Advisory Board
The Advisory Board is composed of physicians and administrators from New York-Presbyterian Hospital who supervise the administration of CoSMO. They meet four times per year to review the activities of the clinic, review proposals for new projects, and assist with any difficulties that may have arisen.

Governing Council
The Governing Council (GC) is the administrative board for CoSMO given the task of carrying out CoSMO’s mission statement. The members of the GC are the Chairs, Vice Chairs, and the head of each committee. They meet once weekly to discuss the progress of the clinic, problem shoot, and work on program development.

Finance
The Finance Committee is responsible for all financial matters related to CoSMO. They monitor the expenses at clinic each week and keep track of the budget. Each year the Finance Committee completes and submits multiple grants to non-profit organizations. As a part of their fundraising efforts they also organize a letter writing campaign and a fall BBQ. The fundraising efforts are a crucial contribution, without them CoSMO would cease to exist.

Human Resources
A dedicated and active group of students work to recruit physician and student volunteers. Starting early in the academic year, they begin recruitment during first year orientation with advertising at the P&S club fair. Throughout the year they organize training and continuing education and ensure that the clinic is staffed each Saturday morning. The group serves as the principle liaison to our Attending Physicians.

Community Outreach
The Community Outreach committee serves as a liaison between the CoSMO healthcare center and the community. Our mission is two-fold: to identify uninsured adults for referral to CoSMO as their source of primary medical care, and to keep pace with the changing needs of our community, so that CoSMO may evolve in ways that best serve those needs.

We primarily work with community-based organizations in Washington Heights. These CBOs include social service organizations, churches, ethnic clubs, and business development groups. Through these partnerships, we integrate CoSMO's services into the infrastructure of our community. Students who participate in the Community Outreach committee will be able to build relationships with community members, and in working with them, will help to inform CoSMO's future growth.

The beautiful webpage and our interactive staff scheduling system were created by this excellent group. They are responsible for the upkeep of the webpage and developing novel approached to information management for CoSMO.

Clinic Evaluation
In order to assure high quality healthcare that is alert to patient needs, CoSMO continually evaluates its impact and patient opinion on the care they have received. Each patient completes a satisfaction survey that the Outcomes Research group compiles for consideration by the Advisory Board. Based on these results, necessary changes are made. They are also the arm of CoSMO that develops and implements publishable research projects.

Health Education
Critical to CoSMO’s success has been the multidisciplinary approach to healthcare. Our health educators have built a curriculum that includes segments on diet, exercise, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, cancer screening and smoking cessation. Each week they are present in clinic working with patients who have a new diagnosis, answering patient questions, and presenting informal session in the waiting room. In between clinic sessions, they meet to teach each other about new and interesting advances in medicine as well as to reinforce the information in their curriculum.

Nursing
The latest addition to CoSMO’s volunteer complement, the nursing students participate in health education and clinic care of the patients.

Social Work
Social workers first interact with patients at the initial screening appointment to determine eligibility. They continue to support the patients by providing them with a complete social evaluation and referrals to the many services that are available in Washington Heights and throughout Manhattan.
